Therapeutic Organic Foot Soaks

Why is soaking feet beneficial?

Soaking the feet works on the principal that the feet are connected to every part of the body and uses the healing power of water to bring relaxation and draw toxins out of the body through sweat glands in the feet. For simple relaxation and detoxification, soak your feet in a basin of warm water. Add lavender essential oil or lemon juices to refresh, and tea tree oil for fungal infection.  We add them all to your Therapeutic Organic Foot Soak at The Spa On Maxwell.

Milk & Honey Benefits

Gives Smooth Skin. A milk and honey bath leaves your skin supple and soft. The protein and fat content in the milk enriches your bath water and helps exfoliate the skin. The lactic acid present in the milk cleans the dead cells and hydrates the skin, thereby preventing dryness.

The lactic acid in milk is an alpha hydroxy acid, which helps cleanse the skin and release dead skin cells. That allows the skin to rejuvenate itself more quickly, resulting in radiantly glowing, satiny smooth and soft skin.

Cleopatra bathed in milk and honey with added lavender and rose.

Cleopatra is legendary for many things—she was the last pharaoh of ancient Egypt, she was smart and stunningly beautiful.  She was known for her beautiful skin.  Cleopatra reportedly used milk for her baths, and it's believed she added honey and lavender to the milk, with scattered rose petals floating in her bath.

Lavender Benefits

The Greeks, Romans and Persians added it to their bathwater to wash and help purify their skin.

Promoting hair health — According to a study published in Archives of Dermatology, lavender may help treat alopecia areata (hair loss), and that it was able to show improvement in 43 percent of the total test participants.

Eliminating microbes — Research shows that lavender possesses antibacterial properties that are effective against 65 different strains, such as E. coli and S. aureus. In addition, it may also help fight fungi.

Improving blood circulation — Lavender may help boost blood circulation throughout your body.

Relieving respiratory disorders — If diffused via an inhaler or a vaporizer, lavender essential oil can help treat inflammatory respiratory conditions like asthma.

Providing pain relief — Applying lavender essential oil to your muscles may help relieve soreness, joint pain and rheumatism.

Boosting skin healing — A 2016 study notes that topical application of lavender oil can help promote acceleration of collagen synthesis and differentiation of fibroblasts, thereby promoting wound healing.

Rose Benefits

Antibacterial – Rose makes an ideal ingredient in cleansers for acne and acne prone skin.

Anti-inflammatory – Rose oils can held reduce redness on your skin helping soothe ailments like rosacea and eczema.

Vitamin C – Rose contains high amounts of vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant. Vitamin C can help protect skin cells from damage.

Introducing PDO ThreadLift

What is PDO ThreadLift?

The PDO Thread Lift is a treatment which lifts & tightens sagging skin, using threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO).
PDO therapy is an effective cosmetic technique that lifts & tightens sagging skin by inducing collagen production. It involves the implantation of fine, absorbable polydioxanone threads (similar to those used in medical suturing) into the subcutaneous layer of the skin.                                                                                                            The threads produce 3 effects in the skin:

  • Instant Skin Lifting through mechanical effects
  • Cellular Renewel, through Collagen stimulation, and neovascularization to improve skin texture, fine lines and elasticity
  • Skin Tightening, by contracting fat tissue

How long will PDO ThreadLift last?

The average time for re-treatment is 21 months.  The PDO threads dissolve naturally over 6-8 months leaving behind rejuvenated collagen.  The lifting effects become more pronounced and natural over time as more collagen production is stimulated.

About 6-8  months after the procedure, the PDO threads will disappear through simple hydrolysis (they are absorbable). The lifted facial contours will remain for about 6-12 months more, due to the cellular rejuvenation effects. Your skin cells are stimulated to produce new collagen, and new blood vessels to improve skin microcirculation. At the same time, the PDO threads cause the fat tissue to contract, producing a skin tightening and facial slimming effect.

Where can PDO Threads be used safely?
